AKAR UMBI BUDI MELAYU DI TANAH TUMPAH DARAH

Tun Tan Siew Sin

“The Malays, through UMNO, were generous enough to relax the citizenship laws of this country to such an extent that within 12 months of independence, 90 percent of the non-Malays had become citizens whereas before independence, 90 percent were still non-citizens after nearly 100 years of colonial rule in the Malay States. In return for this major concession, the MCA and the MIC agreed to continue the policy of preserving the special position of the Malays while at the same time upholding the legitimate interests of other communities.”

Terjemahannya (Translation) :
Dalam ucapannya bertajuk “Menjawab Kritikan Mengenai keistimewaan Orang Melayu”, yang dilaporkan akhbar pada 30 April 1969, Presiden MCA, Tun Tan Siew Sin berkata;

Bahasa rasmi Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu

Ucapan Tun Dr Mahathir di Konferen OIC ke 17 "Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS)" bertajuk Leadership and Policy Components for the Knowledge Society.

(Bernama) - "Malaysians have an extremely important role of mastering English to acquire knowledge at a faster pace to ensure there is no 're-colonisation' of the country, said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Without a good command of English, the people would not acquire knowledge quickly."

"English is the language of the Knowledge Age. Countries which do not master English will not only be left behind but risk being colonised, either directly or indirectly. Without knowledge, countries will be oppressed... Only by mastering English, could the people in this country acquire knowledge at a faster pace so as not to be left behind by development. The people would not lose their identity by seeking knowledge in English. English is not only for English people but (it is) a universal language. I am not an Englishman but I speak English. I don't think the government understands the importance of English as a language of knowledge when they decided to switch from English to Malay (in teaching Science and Mathematics)."

AGENDA PAKATAN DAN DAP AMBIL ALIH TANAH MELAYU-SABAH DAN SARAWAK

Kajian oleh Boon Kia Meng
Pegawai Penyelidik Kanan DAP
(Maaf dalam Bahasa Inggeris)

BREAKING NEWS : Working towards a regime change — Boon Kia Meng

DEC 19 2009 — As Malaysians look towards the future and faces the question of what it would mean to be a Malaysian in the 21st century, our nation needs more than what we have experienced thus far in the last 52 years, in the areas of governance, the economy, social welfare and our cultural lives.

What Malaysia needs is a regime change.

A common and truly participatory Malaysian democratic project of regime change will save us from the dangerous old politics of racism, discrimination, corruption and oppressive rule experienced over the last 52 years. The Pakatan Rakyat, responding to the rakyat’s indomitable democratic spirit and hunger for true and fundamental change, accepts the unique opportunity and mandate given by the Rakyat on March 8, 2008, to re-imagine and chart a new and decisive course in Malaysia’s history.

To this end, the three member parties, in a spirit of mutual respect and common deliberation, taking full account of our respective political beliefs and values, have sought to transcend these differences in authoring this common document called the Dasar Pakatan Rakyat. We believe that the higher and more fundamental values for all Malaysians, Justice, Dignity and Mutual Respect, should be the basis for our citizenship, identity and our common good.

We have resolved in our Dasar Pakatan Rakyat to:

  • Put a clear and decisive end to the politics of racism and discrimination in all government policies and legislation.
  • Restore the Supremacy of the Federal Constitution and the Rule of Law, where there will be greater democratisation in all public institutions, organs of government, the courts and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Develop a truly People’s Economy, as opposed to an economy that has benefitted cronies and those with vested interests, where corruption and wasteful public spending will be vigorously combated. We will instill greater transparency and accountability in government and the public sector.
  • Restore meaning to Federalism where States’ rights are defended and economic wealth will be shared on a fair and equitable basis, including tax revenues and oil royalties.
  • Abolish the ISA and all oppressive and draconian laws that infringe every Malaysians’ fundamental liberties and human rights.
  • Arrest the years of under-investment and bad planning in our education, transport and health-care systems, where greater resources will be mustered and better managed for their revitalisation and the well-being of all Malaysians.
  • Develop a social protection agenda to ensure all marginalized and vulnerable groups are protected and their welfare safe-guarded.
  • Enhance greater democratic and cultural space for the flourishing of a vibrant multiculturalism and also for the arts and literature.

We are confident that all Malaysians will find these policies and much more in our Dasar Pakatan Rakyat, being a part of our sacred pact with the Rakyat, our sincere commitment to effect real and substantive changes to the daily lives of every single Malaysian citizen.
The writer was part of the drafting committee for the common policy platform.

Video panas ketuanan Melayu

Nizar says Ketuanan Melayu is unIslamic

By Clara Chooi

The recent spate of racial politicking allegedly instigated by non-Malay politicians in the Opposition, seems to have triggered an internal war among the Malay community, creating a widening rift between two factions — the pro-Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Malays and the pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) Malays.

The chasm was further proven today when, in a press conference at the Perak DAP headquarters this afternoon, ousted Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin (picture) came to the defence of his non-Malay comrades in the PR and condemned the concept of “Malay Supremacy”, adding that it was an “un-Islamic” ideology.

He also urged his fellow Malays to open their eyes and see the BN's or Umno's ploy in using the concept to create a wave of protest against the PR alliance.

“As far as we in PAS are concerned, the entire concept is utter rubbish. There is no such thing as Malay supremacy but what it really is is Umno supremacy,” he said.

He said that PAS, even as an Islamist party, had never been an advocate of such a concept and this stand had been undertaken by the party's spiritual adviser Datuk Seri Nik Aziz Nik Mat many years ago.

Nizar added that “Malay Supremacy” was anti-Islam and that any Muslim who committed treachery against Islam would be punished in one way or another.

“They will not go unpunished,” he said.

The Bukit Gantang MP added that the Umno Malays were presently attempting to distort all statements and actions taken by the non-Malay politicians in the PR, in order to create a false impression that they were “anti-Malay”.

“They are doing this everywhere and trying to get the Malays to believe them.

“Look at the incident of the frog doormat — they claimed that it was an act of the Chinese stepping on the faces of the Malays,” he said.

In the incident, the Perak DAP had been criticised for stepping on the pictures of PR defectors Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu and Hee Yit Foong during its annual convention in Ipoh recently.

Nizar was speaking out for his non-Malay colleagues in the PR — Taiping MP Nga Kor Ming and Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran — both of whom had come under fire lately for allegedly making “racial” statements in Parliament.

In Kulasegaran's case, the DAP national vice-chairman had said that the New Economic Policy and the concept of “Malay Supremacy” were obstacles in the quest to achieve racial unity in the country.

Nga, on the other hand, became the recipient of severe criticism when he spoke against the BN government's generous allocation for the construction of mosques in the country.

He had said that between the years 2000 and 2008, the government had spent RM748.26mil on the construction of 611 mosques but had failed to build any churches or Chinese and Indian temples in the same period.
